This flag was adopted on March 25, 1863. The colors of the flag are dark blue, white, gold, black, brown, green, grey and purple. The flag was designed in1863. The designer is unknown. The design has at the top of a shield on a dark blue field the state motto-Forward. Below it is a badger the state animal. A sailor and miner show that their people work on water and land. The shield in the center shows Wisconsin’s loyalty towards the United States. In the four sections surrounding the shield are representations of the states main industries: Agriculture, mining, manufacturing and navigation. The cornucopia and pile of lead represent farm products and minerals. All outdoor flags are finished with heading and brass grommets (H&G). PH denotes pole hem for indoor and parade use. PHF denotes pole hem and gold fringe.
