This flag was adopted on November 9, 1992. The colors of the flag are blue, gold, black and white. The flag was designed in1909. The designer is Ida M. Anding. The design has the state seal surrounded by a golden sun in a field of sky blue. Text reading-South Dakota, The Mount Rushmore State-the official state nickname, are in a circle around the sun. All outdoor flags are finished with heading and brass grommets (H&G). PH denotes pole hem for indoor and parade use. PHF denotes pole hem and gold fringe.
