This flag was adopted on February 7, 2001. The colors of the flag are red, white and blue. The flag was designed inFebruary 7, 1894. The designer is unknown. The design has three bars of equal width. One each of red, white and blue. It has a square in the upper left hand corner. This square is in width, two-thirds of the width of the flag; the field of the square is blue with thirteen five-pointed stars, corresponding with the number of the original States of the Union. The outer ring of thirteen stars represent the original thirteen colonies, the ring of six stars represent the six nations that have had control over the Mississippi territory. The inner and slightly larger star represents Mississippi. All outdoor flags are finished with heading and brass grommets (H&G). PH denotes pole hem for indoor and parade use. PHF denotes pole hem and gold fringe.
